Health Benefits of Grooming
Professional pet grooming may seem like an unnecessary expense, but majority of groomers do more than trim hairs and brush teeth. They are observant and they highlight the health conditions of your pet to you through which it may be suffering from; like tangles, mats and ticks. A professional pet groomer is trained to recognize the early signs of physical problems.
Anal glands are regularly checked and expressed when necessary in order to empty the build up secretions from the gland which may otherwise build up. This can easily lead to thickening of the secretion, clogging of the duct and sometimes even infection and abscesses.
Grooming removes dead hair leaving only the healthy hair behind which immediately looks better. It also lets air circulate through the coat better reducing odor, keeps the dog cooler and looks cleaner.
Grooming stimulates blood flow which in turn improves blood supply to the hair follicles working wonders for the health of the overall coat.
Grooming also stimulates the lymphatic system, thus having a positive affect on the dog's overall health.
Pet's paws should be groomed regularly as it will check the growth of its nails and will keep a check for any injuries on its pads which may not be visible otherwise.
Last but not the least, a shiny coat on our cats, dogs and rabbits not only look good and look very pleasing to the eye of a pet owner but are also generally a sign that the pet is physically well and in good health.
Some tips:
Grooming is an important part of your dog's health
Brushing : With regular brushing and combing u help to remove the dead hair and dirt and also prevent matting. Dogs that are regularly groomed have healthier and shinier coat because it stimulates the blood supply to the skin. Use a good quality brush and comb.
Ears: Check your pets ears periodically. If there is a foul odor and/or any red, brown or black skin, have a veterinarian examine your pet's ears
Nails: Get your pets nails trimmed on regular basis, say, once per month either from a professional groomer or a veterinarian.
Teeth: Your pet can also get cavities and develop periodontal diseases, so their teeth should be cleaned with pet toothpaste at least twice a week. It is best to use a small toothbrush that has soft bristles.
